bullet  General Notes:

From Richard F. Hunsinger

Mostly because of the Thirty Year War and epidemics, the Palentine need ed people to help with the lands. The presiding Duke promised men from oth er countries that if they would come to to the Palentine they would be fr ee of taxes for some years. Many people from Switzerland, Austria, northe rn Italy and perhaps other places went to the Palentine.
In the early 1600's, Rudolph moved from Ettischweyl in Allgau, to the Kan del area belonging to the State of Wangen, Germany. In 1900 it is call ed Ettensweiler, in the community and parish of Niederwanger near Wangen n ear Lake constance. This is also a short distance from Zurich, Switzerlan d. They were one of the largest families in Kandel at the time. In the m id 1600's, his only son, Barthel, floated down the Rhine to Kandel, in t he Palatinate state of Germany, near the Alsace border of France. He h ad a large family, one of which was Christophel (1661) Because living cond itions there were so deplorable, three of Christophel's children came to A merica in 1732. He had 7 other children besides Barthel but names not know n.
