bullet  General Notes:

From the Peter Family History by W.K. Peter
"Jacob Peter (a son of Casper Peter) was born March 22nd, 1751, was married to Susanna, a daughter of George Rex. They resided in Heidelberg Township, at first evidently in that part now included in Washington Township. This we base on the fact that their children, John Casper, J. Jacob, Susanna and A. Margaretta, born between the years 1773 and 1786, and according to the baptismal record of the Union Church, were all baptized there, thus indicating that they were members of that Church, during the earlier years of their married life.
From a deed dated Dec. 19th 1785, from Casper Peter to his son, now in the hands of Oscar Leibold, owner of part of the land, it appears that Jacob Peter became the owner of 350 acres and 70 perches of land, and that he resided on part of the same, the location being about one mile east of the Heidelberg Church, this is proven by subsequent conveyances, covering to the present time.
Jacob Peter died April 22nd, 1804, and was buried in the old cemetery connected with the Heidelberg Church. Susanna, the wife of Jacob, died August 3rd, 1823, and was buried beside her husband. The first tombstones which marked their graves, having become affected by the ravages of time, were out of respect to the decedent's memory, replaced in 1907, by their great grand descendants.
That Jacob Peter was possessed of other land, besides the 350 acres and 70 perches referred to above, is shown by deeds of conveyance to his three sons, to wit: On May 7th 1803, Jacob Peter and Susanna, his wife, deeded to their son, Casper, 173 acres 93 perches; On May 17th, 1803, to their son John, 144 acres, 100 perches, and on May 20th, 1803, 182 acres and 96 perches to their son, Jacob. A total of over five hundred acres.
